Global Competence: Components

World Knowledge

World knowledge is a general understanding of countries, political systems and things that are happening in the world. This component includes three considerations:

  1. General Knowledge: A person has a general understanding of global history, events, public policy, politics, world organizations, geography, and major religions.
  2. World Cultures: One is aware of beliefs, values, perspectives, practices, and products of own culture with that of others.
  3. Global Interrelations: The individual has an understanding of concepts of sustainability and globalization and how it affects local and global cultures.
