Lesson 2: Team Processes

Structuring Processes

Structuring processes refers to the structure your team will have (Lipnack & Stamps, 2000, Garton & Wegryn, 2006, Lojeski & Reilly, 2008, Anawati & Craig, 2006, Monalisa et. al, 2008, Martins, Gilson, & Maynard, 2009). Will it be a hierarchal leadership with a single person as the final decision maker? Will it have shared leadership?

Structuring processes establishes how the team members will interact with each other. You want to settle the questions of how someone will initiate contact if he or she has a question or needs some information vital to the project. It establishes rules and protocols for sharing information, responding to e-mails, and discussing problems.
