Cultural Dispositions: Ethnocentrism
Prejudice
The next step up from stereotypes is prejudice. When a person internalizes stereotypes and begins to see his/her views as normal and natural, prejudice follows. The person determines that it is all right to identify members of the group solely by the stereotypes used to identify the groups. Prejudice serves to diminish other people by denying them identities and rights that are theirs.
A GV team may manifest itself in a way that would prevent a person from one culture from working on a certain aspect of the project. Those demonstrating the prejudice feel justified because of their embedded stereotypes.
